How To Become A Qualified HGV Driver

All of us want lorry drivers to be safe and competent behind the wheel so naturally there are a few things that every new HGV driver must do before becoming qualified. 
1. Request Your Starter Pack
Get off to the best start possible

Ordering a starter pack not only ensures you have everything you need to begin, it makes sure you are in the system which will make scheduling your training and test a smooth and faster process.

We talk you through your starter pack explaining each element. We talk to you about the best and fastest way to get through the process of becoming qualified. We answer your questions and prepare training tailored to your needs and experience. Our motto is "we'll take care of it" so we are here to help make the whole process smooth and easy for you.

Your starter pack contains all you need to start your lorry driving career:
  • D2 Driving Licence Application Form
  • D4 Medical Examination Form
  • Full Access To Theory and Hazard Perception Online Learning​ ​Study Material For Any Device (also use offline to study at a time & place convenient to you)
  • Case Studies Module 2
  • CPC Module 4 Study Material ​​

Finance available subject to status. The rate offered is always provisional and will depend upon your personal circumstances, the loan amount and term.
2. Pass A Medical Examination
We take care of almost everything but I'm afraid you have to attend and pass your medical yourself, that's one thing we can't do for you.

​The medical is just to ensure that you are physically fit and able to drive an HGV. Once you have the form just make an appointment with your GP.

​You need to pass before you can apply for a category c provisonal licence.
How we help:
Our starter pack contains all the forms you need including the D4 Medical Examination Form.

​We can arrange a medical for you with a doctor for £49+vat (this may be cheaper than your own GP).
3. Apply for a Provisional Category C Licence 
Once you have passed your medical, complete form D2.
Send this along with your completed D4 Medical Examination Form and your car licence to the DVLA.

4. Waiting for your Provisional License to return
Study for your Theory and Hazard Perception Test.

Optional: Study for your CPC Module 2 (case studies) - you only need to pass this if you intend to drive to earn money or some other reward.

Comprehensive study materials are all included in the starter pack, 
5. On receipt of your Provisional
You can now book and pass your Theory and Hazard Perception online.

Optional: Take and pass your CPC Case Study Module 2.
How we help:
You can book your theory test directly on the gov.uk website by clicking the button. Or we can do it for you. 
6. Pass your theory then confirm your Practical Driver Training
When you have passed your theory test you are ready to drive. You can now undertake your 16 or 20 hours of training in a class 2 category C or class 1 C+E vehicle.

7. Practical Driving Test
Fully prepared you will be ready to take and pass your test.

We arrange the test date and time for you according to your availability utilising our pre-booked appointments where possible to get you qualified sooner.

 8. Optional - CPC Module 4 Training and Test
CPC Module 4 is the practical demonstration where all non driving aspects are tested. It is necessary for those that intend to drive to earn money or some other reward.
